Sparta Schools Bond 2026
Sparta-Strong Bond
The futures we’re building begin with schools ready to lead the way.
Through careful financial stewardship, Sparta R-III has a plan to make key improvements to our school facilities while keeping the district’s debt service tax rate unchanged. This $7.5 million no tax increase bond would support community-priority projects that strengthen our schools and student programs, including renovations and improvements at Sparta Elementary and Middle School, construction of a new baseball and softball complex, and the purchase of property currently leased by the district to better support long-term district needs.
If approved by voters, the district’s debt service levy is projected to remain steady at $0.8655 per $100 of assessed valuation — delivering meaningful improvements with no tax increase.

HIGH SCHOOL PROJECTS
The Sparta Strong Bond will fund the construction of a new baseball/softball complex providing safe, modern facilities that support student athletes, school programs, and community use while meeting the district’s long-term needs.

A message from Sparta Schools Superintendent,
Dr. Eric Russell
As the Superintendent of Sparta R-III School District, I am proud to share the vision behind our upcoming bond initiative and the lasting impact it will have on our students and community. This bond represents a thoughtful investment in both academics and activities, ensuring our facilities reflect the excellence we expect for Sparta students. The construction of a new combined softball and baseball complex will provide safe, modern spaces for student-athletes while creating a venue our entire community can take pride in. These upgrades will enhance opportunities through providing a green space at the HS for teachers to use during classroom time, as well as providing modern updated facilities where we can now host larger outdoor events.
In addition, the bond addresses important improvements within our existing Middle School facilities. Some of the planned renovations to the Middle School include: updates to the old gym, band room remodel and expansion, and providing our largest student activity archery a safe space to practice. All of these updates will directly support student learning and extracurricular growth. We will also be working to add safety enhancements such as badge-access entry to the old gym, and solutions to ongoing water penetration issues. Addressing these issues will protect our facilities and ensure a secure environment for students and staff. At the elementary school, we will be adding a new awning to the main entrance that will improve daily student drop-off and pick-up safety. Finally, we will be updating some of our playground equipment to provide engaging, developmentally appropriate spaces for our youngest learners.
The Sparta Strong Bond proposal is about more than buildings; it is about investing in the future of Sparta! By addressing facility needs now, we can protect taxpayer investments, strengthen many of our student programs, and continue building a district that reflects the pride and values of our community. I encourage all stakeholders to learn more about the bond and consider the long-term benefits it will provide for our students and for Sparta as a whole.
Finally, we want to thank our community for your continued support as we look to the future of Sparta! Go Trojans!
